Instructions
for set
up:
1.
HOOK. Attach
the yellow straps around or to a support.
The yellow straps have clip hooks on the ends that clip together to
form a loop or attach directly to a support object.
Recommended supports are: fences,
luggage racks of vehicles, trees and eyebolts attached to walls or
structures.
2.
PULL.
Pull out on the handle of the SportsShade housing until the
awning material is completely extended and can pull out no further.
SportsShade must be completely extended to be held in place by the
guy lines.
3.
SWING.
Pull down on the legs, which are held horizontal by black clips and
swing them vertically into place. The
legs should be perpendicular to the housing for correct use.
The SportsShade housing and legs should be placed at a slight
incline to keep the awning extended while placing the guy-lines with
stakes (See picture 4 on the box).
4.
STAKE.
One person should hold the SportsShade upright until the guy lines
have been staked down. Pull each guy line until it is fully extended at an
approximate angle of 45 degrees from the support legs.
Place the stake perpendicular to the ground and drive it into the
soil until the collar is touching soil.
Do not use stakes in sand or mostly sandy soil.
It is recommended to use SportsShade weight bags (sold separately).
Please note that Inventive Ideas is not responsible damage or
injury cause by any modification made to the SportsShade.
To
take SportsShade down:
Pull up on the stakes and
hold on to them until they are fully retracted into the housing.
Do not let go of them or they may cause damage or injury.
Use the 4 steps listed above in reverse order.
Windy Conditions: During
windy conditions it may be difficult getting the awning material to
retract due to a ballooning effect. In
this case – try putting the housing on the ground and let the awning go
down into the housing or try to line the housing and the awning up
parallel to the wind direction and then retracting.
Warnings:
-
Do
not use in winds or gusts in excess of 25 mph.
-
Do not place grills or cooking devises beneath the shade.
-
Do not use during stormy weather.
-
Improper use may result in damage or injury.

Trouble
Shooting:
1.
Issue: My SportsShade is not retracting all the
way.
-
Solution:
Sometimes SportsShade may retract crooked (more on one side than the
other). Try to compensate so that sportsshade is retracting
evenly on both sides. Do this by pulling gently to the opposite
side while SportsShade is retracting.
-
Solution:
Sometimes SportsShade may build up residue from dust and the silver
coating inside of the housing which creates extra friction and reduces
retraction. Try putting talcum powder on the top side of the
awning material. Sprinkle it lightly and let the awning retract
into the housing a few times.
-
Solution:
Sometimes SportsShade may retract with significant wrinkles due to
wind. These wrinkles may cause the retraction to bind up. Try to
get to an area that is protected from the wind and pull the awning out
and let it retract with out wrinkles.
2.
Issue: My SportsShade is binding up when I try to pull it out.
-
Solution: Sometimes
SportsShade may build up residue from dust and/or the silver coating
on the fabric inside of the housing which creates extra friction and
binds the roller. Try hanging SportsShade by the clip hooks,
then gently pull down on the housing. Bunched awning material
may bubble out of the opening in the housing. Push the bunched
material back in the opening and gently pull down more. Keep
repeating this procedure until the SportsShade unbinds. Then put
talcum powder on the top side of the awning material to reduce
friction. Sprinkle it lightly and let the awning retract into
the housing a few times.
3.
Issue: My SportsShade does not retract well in the wind.
3.
Issue: My SportsShade does not retract at all.
